Project “16 Days of Gratitude”: day 2

Day 2. Lithuanian square. And now let us move from past to present, to the very heart of the noisy city. Not far from the Saint Sophia Cathedral, at Volodymyrska Street 1, you can find a Lithuanian Square, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Lithuania. The site was opened on December 12, 2016 with the participation of the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, who said that “Lithuanian Square is a symbol of our friendship”. The square was reconstructed in 2020–2021 by the joint work of Lithuanian and Ukrainian architects. By the way, it is said that the square resembles the dunes near the Baltic Sea or the bends of amber washed ashore. In summer, it is a cozy space for relaxation, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the city and think about our common history. As it is still winter, tomorrow, I will invite you to go for a walk to find out other secrets of Kyiv.
