Call for Papers: Heritage & Development
6th Heritage Forum of Central Europe
June 16—18, 2021
International Cultural Centre in Kraków has announced the call for papers for 6th Heritage Forum of Central Europe, the aim of which is to discuss and analyse the links and mutual dependencies between heritage and development.
„The period of political and economic transformation in Central European countries has given rise to a vast utilisation of heritage assets, both tangible and intangible, for the purpose of economic development. However, among others, the current global context highlights the importance of understanding heritage resources as means of a deeper and more sustainable development – not merely material, but also socio-cultural, transgressing the hitherto prevalent economy-oriented viewpoint.
By means of addressing such issues as, for example, the role of heritage in sustainable development, civic engagement, and social integrity, the Forum’s objective is to demonstrate new, implementable approaches required by the unprecedented challenges Europe is currently facing.
We invite professionals from a variety of fields (e.g. history of art, architecture, history, cultural studies, heritology, specialist in heritage protection and management, sociology, conservation and museology, economics and management) to submit their proposals for papers on the following themes, although submissions are not limited to them:
Heritage and Post-Growth
Heritage and Social Integrity
Heritage and Urban Renewal
Heritage and Climate Catastrophe
Heritage and Resilience
Proposals for 20-minute presentations should include a brief biographical note with your title and institutional affiliation and a maximum 150-word abstract in English.
They should be submitted by e-mail to heritageforum6@mck.krakow.pl by March 31, 2021.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent by April 30, 2021.
Due to the unpredictable character of COVID-19 pandemic the conference will be organised either in traditional form in the seat of the ICC in Kraków or in a hybrid way using on-line technologies.
The conference will be held in English and followed by a peer-reviewed publication. All articles up to 4000—6000 words long, following the assigned style guide and submitted by the deadline (to be announced), will be considered for publication.“
