Lithuanian Language and Culture Studies

We invite you to study Lithuanian language and culture at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU)!

These studies are open to both complete beginners and those with advanced Lithuanian language skills. We offer Lithuanian language courses from levels A1 to C1, as well as lectures on literature, history, culture, ethnology, and more, in both Lithuanian and English!

For those interested in studying, we offer the following options:

1. Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer and Winter Courses at VMU
(Location: Kaunas, Vilnius, or online)

The 2026 winter course will take place from January 5 to February 3.
You can apply for a scholarship (if eligible) or participate by paying the course fee.
Summer courses will be held in July 2026—more information will be announced in the spring.

2. Lithuanian Language Classes during the Semester at VMU
(Location: Kaunas, Vilnius or online)

Language classes take place twice a week over four months.

Classes are held during the autumn semester (September–December) or spring semester (February–May).

3. Lectures on Lithuanian History, Culture, Literature, and more at VMU
(Location: Kaunas or online)

Lectures are held during the autumn semester (September–December) or spring semester (February–May).

Fee: €200–€400 per person, depending on the number of ECTS credits.

4. Informal Lithuanian Language Courses at VMU
(For foreigners / Ukrainians / Lithuanian diaspora / families / members of companies)

Groups can be formed based on demand.

Fee: €300–€350 per person for 60 academic hours of instruction.


5. Determining the Level of Lithuanian Language Proficiency

Note: This is not a state language proficiency exam.
