Conference “History, Culture and Heritage of Manors in Central and Eastern Europe”

We invite you to propose topics for the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference “History, Culture and Heritage of Manors in Central and Eastern Europe” to be held at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania on 24-26 April 2025.

The conference aims to present the latest research results of scholars from different fields of research on the history, culture, art and heritage of manors in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, and to invite the scholars to an international discussion on current issues in this field.

We invite you to present papers on the following topics:

  • manor architecture;
  • collections of manorial art;
  • manor libraries collections;
  • history and everyday life of manors;
  • comparative studies of manorial culture;
  • nationalisation processes and the fate of manorial property in the former communist bloc countries;
  • problems of protection of the heritage of manors;
  • cases, possibilities and perspectives for the adaptation of manors to public needs.

The conference is open to historians, art historians (art, architecture, theatre, music), cultural studies, museum professionals, heritage conservationists and other researchers. Research papers based on the conference presentations will be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

The languages of the conference are English and Lithuanian. The duration of the presentation is up to 20 minutes.
