International Conference “The History of Violence Against Women: From Theoretical to Empirical Perspectives”

To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25th – 26th Vytautas Magnus University will host a remote international scientific conference “The history of violence against women: from theoretical to empirical perspectives”.

This international conference seeks to bring together scholars of inter-disciplinary fields to understand the history of violence against women from theoretical and empirical standpoints. Different topics will be discussed in the conference: from violence against women in the early modern Russia till domestic violence problems during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the conference program – 22 scientific papers, that will be presented by scholars from Denmark, Greece, United States of America, United Kingdom, Latvia, Lithuania, France, and Finland.

Conference will take place online. It is organized by researchers from Vytautas Magnus University Faculty of Humanities, Department of History, who are implementing a research project “Violence against women: from harassment to crime in 20th century Lithuania”, funded by the Research Council of Lithuania (No. P-LIP-18-115).
